happy new year!

I'm not big on New Year's resolutions but I have wanting to get back on track with the blog to keep everyone updated and for my own memories but I have really been dreading a first new post because it has just been too long!  So I've ended up putting it off even longer.  But, I'm back and we're just hopping in where we are now.  These boys just don't stop growing!

Luca lost his first tooth in February.  He is really enjoying pre-k this year and is learning to read right now.   He is so excited for it to warm up again and is asking when the turtles will be back and when he can go fishing again!

Dominic is 14 months old now and it has gone so quickly.  He is all over the place, walking, running, climbing.  He drove Luca's tractor across the front yard last week although I'm not entirely sure he realized he was driving it.  He is not much of a talker yet but he certainly has his ways of getting his point across without words.  He is a very happy boy full of smiles and quite a snuggler.

Luca is such a proud big brother.  He quickly tells pretty much every one he meets that Dominic is his little brother.  It almost always goes " Hi, this is my baby brother, his name is Dominic.  He's one.  And I'm Luca, I'm 5."  Last Saturday Luca was so excited to get Dominic in the cart with him to take him for his first drive around the grocery store.  He even made sure to buckle Dominic in before we took off.  Here's hoping they will always have so much fun together!

happy fall y'all

What a short summer!  Fall is here again and it is my favorite time of year.  We are spending more time outside again and keeping the windows open.  Luca headed back to school and is in pre-k in the mornings this year.

I thought this would mean more time for Dominic and I but so far Dominic has really been enjoying having a quiet house to nap in and frequently sleeps most of the time Luca is away.  Dominic needs his sleep too because he just keeps growing!

At 6 months Dominic found his feet and started playing with them all the time.  At 7 months he started crawling and as we start 8 months he is pulling up already!  He is also starting to feed himself and has loved bananas and broccoli.

Fall also means football and Luca wanted to sign up for flag football this year.  He has had 2 games  now and is having a lot of fun.

We also had our first weenie roast of the fall at nana and papa's house last week and it was a beautiful evening.  Looking forward to lots more fun with the boys this fall!

finally an update...

Well, it's been a busy few months and very little time with empty arms!  Dominic is about to turn 7 months old and Luca likes to show me how much bigger he has gotten overnight almost every morning.

It has been a relaxing summer.  I'm lucky that Luca still loves to be home and is rarely bored as long as he can play outside.  He has enjoyed some fishing time with daddy and having some friends over to play.  He is getting better at swimming all the time and has even started to do some swimming without his life jacket under the close watch of his papa

Dominic is still growing so fast!  He's almost 19 pounds now and has learned to sit on his own in the last couple of weeks.  He also discovered his feet just about the time he turned 6 months old and he likes to spend lots of time playing with them.  Just this week he has started to push up all the way on his hands and knees and rock so we think he will start crawling anytime now...momma is not ready for that!

Dominic has also started eating solids.  He obviously likes to eat!  So far he's had sweet potatoes, squash, pears, applesauce, peaches, blueberries and peas.  The only thing he was not a fan of was the peas but I'll win him over eventually.

We also made time for a couple of family trips over the summer.  We all went to the Landing which Luca calls the "water wave park"  Luca was a big fan of the lazy river and he even made a few trips down the big slide.  I was really surprised he was brave enough to do it on his own!  Dominic loves the water too and spent lots of time splashing as well as going down the lazy river with the fam.

At the end of July we also made a trip to Omaha.  The zoo was great and it was actually a very cool day, great weather for walking around.  I didn't pack the best apparently because I didn't think to bring long sleeves in July which is why Luca is sporting his jammie shirt...the only long sleeve thing we had!  We also made it to the Children's Museum and the Botanical Gardens.

It's hard to believe summer is almost over.  Auntie Rhonda starts school next week and Luca starts pre-k on Aug 21.  It has been fast this year.  I am ready for cool weather and hotdog roasts and sweatshirts...fall is  my favorite time of year.  But for now maybe a few more trips to the lake while we still can!

stay home family days

The first question Luca usually asks when he wakes up in the morning is if it is a stay home family day.  This big guy loves to be home!  We are really good at being laid back around the house especially since Dominic arrived.  We can usually be found hanging out in jammies and just getting around to breakfast around 9.  Lately it is finally getting warm enough that we can start to get outside again and Luca is so excited to play outside again.

Making paper mache planets...I thought they were going to be eggs but I was corrected.  Luca had been wanting to make paper mache since he saw it on a Curious George.

One of the first days it was warm enough for Dominic to get out of the house too.  He stayed awake for about 10 minutes before the sunshine lulled him to sleep.

Jumping for joy!

We love our stay home family days!

Two months

Here are some of my favorite pics from Dominic's second month.  He keeps on growing like a little weed.  He's eating and sleeping great. This month he has started cooing and squealing and he is smiling a lot more.  Luca can usually get him to smile and make a little giggle especially when they both wake up in the morning.

1 month new

Here are some pics of Dominic from his first month.  He's growing fast!

This is Dominic on his one month birthday with the bear that Nana and Papa got for him.

Luca was happy to take Dominic to meet great-grandma June.

So much hair!

Introducing Dominic Adrian Angelo Serino

Our sweet new son was born January 11, 2013 at 1014am.  He weighed 5lb 5oz and was 19 inches long.  Like his brother before him, Dominic made a big entrance.  I had a regular visit scheduled with my OB that morning and mentioned to him that Dominic hadn't been moving much since the night before.  When he put me on the monitor it showed that Dominic's heart rate was getting quite low and so the decision was made to have a c-section right away and in less than an hour he was born.  Dominic recovered very quickly and other than a little issue with low BG in the first few days due to his small size he hasn't had any issues

Luca was so excited to meet his baby brother and it was love at first sight. He has been a big help around the house while we are adjusting to life with a baby again.  From fetching whatever momma forgot to bring to dancing around like a monkey to make Dominic stop crying he is eager to help and likes being the "big brother".

Getting ready to make our escape...finally!  Like I said, Dominic had some low blood sugars in the days after he was born so we ended up having to stay in the hospital for 4 days.  It got to be a very long 4 days apart for momma and her first boy and we couldn't wait to get home again.  And on January 15, 2013 we brought Dominic home.
