11 months...first steps

Yes, first steps. Luca took his first step today and then he fell over. I think we are going to be very busy chasing him soon. My little baby is turning into a boy. He already cannot be bothered to hold still for a diaper change or to get dressed. It's very interesting trying to put a diaper on Luca as he crawls away. If you're not fast you end up with this...

One of Luca's favorite toys has become electric cords, he likes to bounce them on the floor. Apparently this is quite fun, probably even more so because we try to keep him away from them. We got Luca a jump rope that looks like a cord so he can click it on the floor but the handles are the best part.

We took our first trip to the park this week. Luca had fun playing on the swings and watching the other kids. He even took a few trips down the slide.

Yesterday morning when Luca woke up from his nap we got a good laugh at his bed head and sleepy smile.

Luca is really starting to show his personality and he is such a funny boy. He started making this tough guy face about a week ago and I have been trying to get a good video of it but alas my child refuses to perform on command. He will scrunch up his nose and squint and breath really loud, it's so funny. We're not sure where he learned it but we are encouraging it with lots of laughing.

Luca's 8th tooth came in this week. He still seems to think that getting teeth is no big deal and I'm thankful for that. We are having new sleep problems this week though. He wants to wake up every 2 hours, it's exhausing. I hear they eventually sleep through the night but I'm starting not to believe it!

Everyday brings us closer to walking. Luca is starting to stand on his own for a couple of minutes at a time and although he hasn't taken his first step yet I'm afraid it won't be long. We took Luca to the park for the first time today and he had fun playing on the swings and watching the other kids.

I continue to be suprised by how fast the days go by now that I'm home. I had such plans for all the "free time" I would have, but I'm having fun just spending it doing this...

for sale!

Today is a big day...our house is officially for sale. We have been doing a lot of work to get it ready and hopefully it will pay off soon! We are very excited to be moving and have been eagerly watching realtor.com to see the house post!

Luca continues to learn new things and entertain himself oblivious to the chaos that has been going on all around him. His squishy new carpet is really nice but he christened it after about 2 hours with its first spit-up.

Luca is also practicing his standing more and more. He's starting to be more steady on his feet. Here are a couple of little videos from this afternoon. And Luca's new word of the day...mama. What a sweet way to end the week!
