a week in review

We started out the week with a relaxing Sunday. We saw that Luca's second bottom tooth came in. Our friends Amy and JR watched Luca for us so that Mike and I could catch a movie. We had a fun time and then Amy made a great dinner for us all.

When we got back JR and Luca were catching a nap...aren't they sweet.

Kenna, Amy and JR's youngest girl, had fun hanging out with Mr. Mike.

Kenna also likes to hold Luca, even though they are almost the same weight!

Monday was back to work for my last week and it was a quick one.

We had a strange house guest...

I got out some new toys for Luca to play with. He's always on the move now!

Luca got his foot into his mouth. He's been working on this but succeeded during dinner while he was eating peas, of course!

Mike practiced his baby-feeding skills.

Luca is getting better at sleeping in his crib during the night. He is sleeping longer and usually just waking around 1am and 4am. (yes, that is really much better) Someday he'll sleep through the night...I have faith!

Then it was Friday and time to say goodbye to life as I have known it for the last 6 years. Here's a picture of our team. It was strange to realize that I'm not going back to the clinic. I am really looking forward to being at home with Luca. I think it is the most important thing for me to be doing now.

Of course, I couldn't resist putting him on the scale...17 lb 10.9 oz, 25 inches and not looking like a preemie anymore!

And when I got home I had a big package from the new job with tons of stuff to study before we head out next week. We will all be headed to Boston on Thursday before I go to Pennsylvania on Sunday for the week. Then a trip to Missouri before we head back to Texas where it is already steamy summer. Can't wait to see everybody!

mama's new job!

It has been a busy week this week. I'm not sure what I got accomplished but it has seemed non-stop. I have been filling out lots of paperwork for the new job. Next week will be my last week working in the clinic. It is starting to feel very strange to think about not going in to work every day. My new job with Animas starts on June 15. I have been praying since Luca was born that somehow I would be able to be home with him and this feels like the perfect fit. Everyone with Animas has been so nice and welcoming. I'm looking forward to the change.

Here are some pictures I took of Luca last weekend. We played in the yard for awhile in the morning before it got too hot. He is starting to set up better on his own this week. He's also learning to drink from a sippy cup. Our little man is also sleeping a lot this week. He went to bed at 6 twice this week, I think he's getting ready to grow again!
