Little Monkey

Here is a sweet pic of Luca before bed last night. I look at him and can't help but feel how blessed we are to have such a sweet, happy, healthy baby. What an incredible gift from God.

Hey everybody. Well, Luca has not been sleeping very well this week so his mommy hasn't been sleeping very well either. So, I've been going to bed about the same time I get him to so I can try to catch up enough to make it through the day! I took off early today and we got a nice nap together.

I wanted to get some pics posted from this weekend. The weather was really nice so we went for several walks together. Luca also discovered his right hand this weekend (he found the left one a couple of weeks ago).

Luca also got a yoga mat this weekend. His play gym is slippery so he can't really get any traction on it so it's harder for him to push up and we have the same problem with the blankets on the hardwood. I think he likes it.

Well I'm off to catch some zzz's before the little man wakes to eat again.

Here is a little video of Luca chatting on St. Patty's Day. He's starting to babble more and "talked" to me all the way home last night. Luca also had a really big day today, he discovered that he has a right hand also. He really makes us laugh.

Please disregard the messy backdrop behind our little star. What can I say, we have new priorities! Speaking of new priorities, here is a poem that was recently on my favorite blog "My Charming Kids" (if your interested there is a link on the left side of my blog). I loved the poem so much that I thought I would post it also.

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,

Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,

Hang out the washing, make up the bed,

Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?

She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Big Boy

Luca had his last Synagis shot today. Yeah! This is the shot to help prevent him from catching the RSV virus and he has been taking it monthly since he was born because he was early. He weighed in today at 13lb 1oz. He's really growing fast now! He weighed 12lb 2oz on 2/26. I took the rest of the day off to hang out with him. I think I will make that the general rule, if he has an appointment we get the rest of the day together. I look for any reason to get more time in!

I also talked with one of the surgeons who stopped in to say hi to Luca. He checked out his belly button and said that he gives it an 80% chance that it should close up on it's own. He said the hernia feels small and the muscle around it feels strong. I guess these are good signs that he shouldn't need surgery later on. I hope so because we don't want to do that again for a long time!

I'm going to try to upload some more video this evening. I have tried a couple of times recently and am having some problems getting the upload done but I'll try tonight with a little smaller file. I think Luca is waking up from his nap so I'll leave you with one more quick pic.

Many Musings

Hello all. Well we are halfway through a lazy weekend in our home. Mike has his long weekend and we are all still recovering from being sick last week. Luca is keeping us entertained, he is getting interested in playing with his toys and he is starting to babble.

Luca is still loosing his hair. I have been really suprised at how fast it is happening and wondering just when it will stop.

Happy Smiles

Here is a video of Mike and Luca with lots of smiles. We're working on the laughing video but so far everytime the camera comes out the giggles go away. The peanut and I have both been fighting a cold since Sunday but hopefully we're both on the mend now. Love you all!

Just One More

Can you tell I'm a new mom? I can't resist putting up just one more pic of the little man. His personality is really starting to show and he is such a happy baby, always smiling and just starting to find his laugh.

Luca's First Trip to the Zoo

Mike had the day off so we decided to take Luca to Cameron Park Zoo in Waco. It was a really nice day. Luca's favorite part was the aquarium, he loved to watch the fish swimming. He also liked the monkeys who were chasing each other around. He made it about 1/2 way through before falling asleep just before all the classic animals like the elephants, lions and tigers. Maybe next time!

Learning to love sports

Mike is already teaching Luca to love hockey. Luca loves to watch TV when hockey is on especially when he gets snuggles from daddy.

Luca's First Plane Ride

Here are some pics from our recent trip to Boston. Luca did great on the plane. I think we're really lucky that he's pretty easy to travel with so far, as long as you stay away from red lights and stop signs.

Thanks so much to Tina and Bill for letting us stay with them. It's always fun to get to hang out with the kids. We enjoyed seeing everyone and getting to show off the little one.
